To satisfy this goal, the exam is developed\nto meet established standards of validity, reliability, and\nfairness.\nThe exam is based on a job analysis study that provided a\nformal investigation of the elevator inspector job. The job\nanalysis study provides the foundation for the exam's\ncontent and format. Basing the development of the exam\non the job analysis study ensures that the content of the\nexam reflects the priority and importance of the job\ncontent; and, the format of the exam conforms to the\nactual performance of the job duties and responsibilities\nwith as much fidelity as feasible. The job analysis relies on\nmultiple methods for defining job tasks including referring\nto pre-existing job descriptions and standards,\ninterviewing experts in elevator inspection and inspection\nsupervision, and administering surveys to inspectors and\ninspector supervisors. QEITF conducted a job analysis\nstudy in 2013 and will conduct new studies every six\nyears.
