High school students may be able to apply, as well.\n\nNorthwest Career and Technical Center has developed a hybrid phlebotomy program that has been approved by the National Healthcareer Association to offer the nationally-approved Phlebotomy Technician Certification Preparation course and to be a testing site for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician examination. In order to sit for certification, students must attend 84 classroom hours and complete the necessary venipuncture and capillary punctures as outlined by the National Healthcare Association.\n\nDue to the growing need for phlebotomists, Northwest Career and Technical Center created relationships with Northwestern Medical Center and Copley Hospital to provide students with clinicals that will help each student understand what working as a phlebotomist looks like. Each student will be offered up to 10 hours of clinical time with a skilled phlebotomist who will work with the student in order to answer questions, provide knowledge and demonstrate phlebotomy skills. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible for interviews with the Northwestern Medical Center and Copley Hospital.\n\nPlease note that adult career and technical education training programs may be offered at varying intervals throughout the year.
