Students will examine the human condition from a variety of academic perspectives and use this interdisciplinary approach to understand historical and contemporary issues. Critical thinking, speaking, and writing skills are emphasized. Many of the required courses overlap with those in the CSU GE Plan or IGETC Plan and additional requirements for the Elementary Teacher Education major vary at each CSU campus. It is highly recommended that students consult with a counselor to discuss their options and choices. Students completing the Associate in Arts in Elementary Teacher Education for Transfer Degree will have satisfied the lower-division major preparation at most CSUs in Liberal Studies or Integrated Teacher Education. Due to considerable overlap between the major requirements and general education requirements of the CSU GE Plan or IGETC Plan, students will complete 51 units required for this Associate Degree for Transfer, any remaining requirements needed to satisfy the 37-39 units of general education of the CSU GE-Breadth Plan or IGETC Plan, and 2-3 units of CSU or UC transferable electives for a total of 60 units with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Students must earn a C or better in all courses required for the major\n\nPlease see the college Catalog for the most up-to-date description."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["_:106d914c-0a50-4e0c-ba2d-b6f99e278a72"],"ceterms:dateEffective":"1901-01-01","ceterms:occupationType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.bls.gov/soc/","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/25-1199.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"25-1199.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Postsecondary Teachers, All Other"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"All postsecondary teachers not listed separately."}}],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://programmap.lavc.edu/academics","ceterms:estimatedDuration":[{"@type":"ceterms:DurationProfile","ceterms:exactDuration":"P20M"}],"ceterms:availabilityListing":["https://www.lavc.edu"],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=55","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=24.0101","ceterms:codedNotation":"24.0101","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that is a structured combination of the arts, biological and physical sciences, social sciences, and humanities, emphasizing breadth of study.
