The study of Nutrition provides a broad foundation in a practical and personally applicable exposure to a variety of scientific areas of nutrition such as chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, anatomy, physiology, and biology. The program also helps students understand the role of nutrition in disease prevention throughout the lifecycle and as an impact on society as a whole. NOTE: The requirements for the AS-T in Nutrition and Dietetics for Transfer degree were chosen solely to meet similar degrees of the Transfer Model Curriculum in Nutrition and Dietetics and may not be adequate preparation for all CSU campuses or to institutions outside of the CSU system. It is critical for students interested in this major to work with their counselor to develop an individual academic plan. Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to: • Effectively demonstrate knowledge of nutrition science including an analysis of information sources, and an examination of the scientific method in relation to current nutrition research • Analyze and explain the relationship between diet, lifestyle, and health outcomes, within the framework of cultural and social influences Degree Requirements • Completion of 60 transferable semester units to the California State University. • Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in all transferable coursework. • Full completion of one of the following General Education patterns: o California State University General Education - Breadth Requirements (CSU GE). o The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) for CSU, with completion of Area 1C Oral communication (CSU admission requirement) • A minimum of 26 semester units required for the major • All courses in the major must be completed with a grade of \"C\" or better or a \"P\" if the course is taken on a \"Pass-No Pass\" basis (Title 5 § 55063)\n\nPlease see the college Catalog for the most up-to-date description."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["_:761e66b8-04b7-495e-a2b8-bc4497e6a66d"],"ceterms:dateEffective":"2020-08-01","ceterms:occupationType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.bls.gov/soc/","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/29-2051.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"29-2051.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Dietetic Technicians"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Assist in the provision of food service and nutritional programs, under the supervision of a dietitian.
