The student will learn to shave and trim facial/neck hair and beards, cut/style hair, give facial/scalp massages, and apply cosmetic treatments. Upon completion, students will take The ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). A Certificate of completion includes 1000 clock hours of barbering under a licensed barber or registered school of barbering. A student can complete an application to become a licensed Cosmetologist through the Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering. Once approved by the board, students must take and pass a practical and written exam to demonstrate knowledge of barbering.
