Students will participate in classroom, clinical lab, and field placement settings. Classroom lectures will cover fundamental topics of human anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, and assessment-based care of many medical and traumatic emergencies. Clinical labs provide students with instruction and hands-on experience with triage, vital signs, bandaging and splinting, hemorrhage control, rescue breathing, CPR, and childbirth, among other topics. Field placement module provides students the opportunity to put classroom theory and lab activities into practice and the opportunity to demonstrate competency in all skills within the scope of practice for an entry-level EMT. Successful completion of this program with a grade of Acceptable Competency or higher may lead to New York State Emergency Medical Technician certification.
