Students completing the music major will attain outcomes in four areas.  Outcomes:  In the area of performance students will develop skills to convey musical ideas effectively in performance. The student majoring in music will demonstrate competence in at least one main performance medium.  Through the acquisition of analytical skills students will demonstrate an understanding of music theory and the processes used to construct musical compositions.  In the area of music history students will demonstrate knowledge of the music of different historical periods and cultural contexts. Through creating music and musical understanding students will apply skills and knowledge to create their own interpretations of musical works, to write new musical compositions or to communicate a personal aesthetic response to music.
