The sonographer typically prepares patients, explains the exam process, performs the procedures, and reports the findings to the patient or physician.\n\nDiagnostic Medical Sonography graduates can work in suburban and rural hospitals, physicians' offices, clinics, federal and state health agencies, and certain educational institutions. The Associate of Applied Science program includes courses in the following areas: technique, exposure, positioning, protection, physics, patient care and ethics. Clinical practice and supplemental instruction are provided in accredited hospitals and clinics. Upon successful completion of the ultrasound program requirements, graduates are eligible to apply to take registry examinations.\n\nThe Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is a selective admission program. When you apply to the College, you will be accepted into Healthcare Specialist with a concentration in Diagnostic Medical Sonography while you complete the prerequisite requirements. The program accepts a limited number of students each year and there is a separate application process. Contact your campus of interest below for more details.\n\nStudents who are admitted to the program will be required to pay for and submit to a criminal background check, drug testing and physical exam.
