The first semester of the curriculum is designated as the Health Occupations Core Curriculum which consists of general education and health occupations core courses all of which are completed before a student applies for entrance to the program.  The remainder of the curriculum provides intensive didactic and clinical training in the allied health specialty of surgical technology.  Upon completion of the general education requirements and program course work, the student will be eligible for an Associate of Science Degree Surgical Technology degree.  Successful graduates are eligible for the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Certified Surgical Technologist Exam.  Certification is a requirement of employment as a Surgical Technologist in the State of Texas.
