By completing the degree or certificate requirements, students acquire a foundation in the principles of engineering, engineering design, computer-aided design, electronics, additive manufacturing processes, traditional manufacturing processes and automation, and the application of math and science in technical fields.\nEngineering technology students learn to operate and apply the modern, industry-standard, CAD/CAM software programs most used in today\u0026rsquo;s workplace. These students also learn about the capabilities and applications of Additive Manufacturing (AM) and 3D Printing Technologies while using them to build their CAD designs. Finally, they learn how things are manufactured. In our CIM (Computer-Integrated Manufacturing) course they experience the entire Design-to-Automated Manufacturing workflow firsthand. This workflow includes the use of CAM software to create CNC programs from their CAD models and setting up and running CNC machines to make their parts.\nCareers in engineering technology involve high-level technical work in the creation, manufacture, production, utilization, and distribution of industrial materials, products, and processes. Engineering technicians/technologists serve as members of engineering and production teams and engage in the management, design, production, assembly, quality control, support, sales and marketing activities in their respective fields.\nGraduates accept positions with a wide variety of titles including technician, technologist, engineering technologist and engineer. Some examples of these include additive manufacturing/3D printing technicians or engineers, CAD technicians or designers, applications engineers, support engineers, manufacturing technicians or engineers, engineering aides, project engineers, project managers, and sales engineers, within the many disciplines of the research, engineering and manufacturing fields."},"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://chaffey.programmapper.com/academics/interest-clusters/8c518b91-3ad0-41d1-b679-f14328f09ee2/programs/c9db1dc6-8625-36e3-b08b-7e159341f339","ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=15","ceterms:codedNotation":"15","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES AND ENGINEERING-RELATED FIELDS"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Instructional programs that prepare individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills in support of engineering and related projects or to prepare for engineering-related fields."}}]}
