It is valid for five years.    The Adult Basic Education Authorization requires applicants to complete four courses through a Colorado community college or by submitted a portfolio for prior learning. The courses cover a wide range of topics pertinent to the field of adult basic education. The Office of Adult Education Initiatives oversees the portfolio process, policy, and management of the ABEA. The CDE Office of Educator Licensing, Preparation and Enforcement oversees the ABEA credentialing process.
