The Practical Nurse program of study is 11 months/ 47 credit hours. Twenty-seven of the total number of credit hours is offered in nursing. The PN cares for the sick, injured, convalescent, and disabled, under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses.  The ADN program is 22 months/ 81 credit hours. Fifty-four of the total number hours are offered in nursing. The RN works to promote health, prevent disease and help patients cope with illness. Students must have earned the credential of Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) prior to enrolling in either the Practical Nursing Diploma program or the Associated Degree Nursing program. The CNA may be completed through either credit or non-credit option.  With just one year of formal preparation in the Practical Nursing program, students are academically qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Practical Nursing. After completion of the two-year ADN program, students are academically qualified to take the NCLEX for Registered Nursing.  The clinical component of the course of study is a strength of the programs. There are two clinical days per week, on average, in both programs. This is a combination of direct patient care, care conferences, observational experiences and nursing simulation laboratory experiences."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-20b0d337-c2de-43b5-a994-d3f4bfc70b78"],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://eicc.edu/future-students/our-programs/nursing/adn","ceterms:audienceLevelType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:PostSecondaryLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Post-Secondary Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those who have completed secondary level school programs or equivalent."}}],"ceterms:estimatedDuration":[{"@type":"ceterms:DurationProfile","ceterms:exactDuration":"P2Y"}],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=51.3808","ceterms:codedNotation":"51.3808","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Nursing Science"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A research program that focuses on the study of advanced clinical practices, research methodologies, the administration of complex nursing services, and that prepares nurses to further the progress of nursing research through experimentation and clinical applications."}}]}
