This information will then be coded using CPT-4, ICD-9/10-CM/PCS numerical coding systems required for the processing of insurance claims. In addition, to learning how to interpret, code and process insurance claims students are exposed to basic health information procedures, the impacts of Meaningful Use, and electronic health records. Clark College currently has a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist Certificate of Proficiency that is an option to the Medical Office Specialist AAS.
