This program\nprepares students to become skilled entry-level surgical technologists. Graduates will be able to\nwork in hospitals, surgical centers, and outpatient clinics. The ST program is taught using a\nhybrid/blended learning environment.\n\nGraduates will understand the vital principles and instrumentation of surgical technology. They\nwill be capable of preparing an operating room for surgery, maintaining a sterile environment,\nand distributing surgical instruments during surgical procedures. Graduates will be able to assist\nwith preoperative and postoperative patient care, and they will be able to communicate clearly\nand effectively with patients, physicians, and coworkers. ST graduates will demonstrate\nbehaviors consistent with professional standards and will meet employer expectations for an\nentry-level position.\n\nUpon satisfactory completion of the program graduates will be prepared to take the Certified\nSurgical Technologist (CST) exam offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and\nSurgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and the Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) exam offered by the\nNational Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).\n\nAfter completing all program requirements, graduates will be awarded an Associate of Applied\nScience in Surgical Technology.\n\nThis program will be delivered using hybrid learning. All hybrid programs include online learning and in-person instruction. The schedule for this program is based on a 15-week semester.
