Students earn Indiana University degrees from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences teaches the importance, application, and relevance of earth sciences in modern society. This program has the added benefit of being located in the largest job market in Indiana and located within two hours of the Cincinnati and Louisville area. We have used our location to build partnerships with other researchers, government leaders, and private industry. The faculty and staff of the department provide an environment where students at all levels can explore, discover, and learn earth sciences through coursework and research. Undergraduates have many opportunities to get involved in research through scholarships, internships, and other funding sources. Our research faculty provide a wide range of diversity across the geosciences not available at many other state and private institutions. Most importantly, our Center for Earth and Environmental Science brings together campus, industry, and government stakeholders to conduct research and outreach related to environmental issues in Indiana."},"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://science.indianapolis.iu.edu/academics/degrees-and-programs/_degrees/geology-bsms-iupui-geolbsms.html","ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:learningDeliveryType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/Delivery","ceterms:targetNode":"deliveryType:InPerson","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Delivery Type"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"In-Person Only"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Delivery is only face-to-face."}}],"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=40.0601","ceterms:codedNotation":"40.0601","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Geology/Earth Science, General"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that focuses on the scientific study of the earth; the forces acting upon it; and the behavior of the solids, liquids and gases comprising it.
