Students build upon the foundational skills attained through their associate degree programs by completing upper-division coursework in management and leadership practices. Upper-level coursework in the BAS Program provides students with the opportunity to engage in a concentrated area of study and develop a theoretical and practical understanding of organizational management. The Healthcare Administration concentration of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management degree program prepares students to enter the workforce as medical/health services managers. In these professions graduates are responsible for planning directing coordinating and supervising the delivery of healthcare. As healthcare administrators they may be specialists managing specific clinical departments or generalists managing a facility or system. Their work as managers involves a complex array of factors impacting today's healthcare environment: technology regulations accreditation innovation in treatment and delivery system finance and insurance reimbursement.  Admission Criteria Admission to this program requires an AS or AA degree (or the equivalent) from a regionally accredited school or college and at least a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 point scale. Students must meet the requirements for college-level mathematics reading and writing.Any deficiencies must be satisfied prior to admission to the bachelor's degree program. Students with an AAS degree are qualified for admission to the bachelor's degree program once they have met the above mentioned requirements. Any deficiencies in General Education requirements must be satisfied prior to graduation with a bachelor's degree. If the student's associate's degree is from a non-regionally accredited institution but one that is accredited by a body that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education a course-by-course evaluationis done according to Polk State College's transfer practices and policies.
