Students will build proficiency to perform welds on thicker materials and more complex joint configurations. This course provides pipe welding training in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) techniques. Students will experience welding pipe in various positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, and inclined at 45 degrees) on a groove weld, focusing on both uphill and downhill progressions. Students will develop comfort and proficiency with basic tools, grinder and torch usage, safety practices, and industry-standard field techniques for pipe welding. This course provides comprehensive training in pipeline welding applications using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process, emphasizing the downhill progression method on large-diameter, heavy-wall pipe.
